COLOSSIANS 4:2-6, 4:18
Devote yourselves to prayer; stay alert in it with thanksgiving. At the same time, pray also for us that God may open a door to us for the word, to speak the mystery of Christ, for which I am in chains so that I may make it known as I should. Act wisely towards outsiders, making the most of the time. Let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how you should answer each person…I, Paul, am writing this greeting with my own hand. Remember my chains. Grace be with you.
PRAYER DIRECTION
Oftentimes, we read the word “devote” and it already seems unattainable. Paul’s encouragement to the church demystifies the charge completely. Ultimately, without prayer, we wouldn’t last long. Prayer encourages us, it keeps us alert, and thankfulness becomes our posture. When we devote ourselves to prayer, we will have opportunities to share the gospel—the good news—to people that the Lord has intentionally placed in our lives. You, through prayer, will be able to see your situation, big or small, and still display His glory and truth by the way you live for His kingdom.
PRAYER
Lord, I thank You for Your word. Thank You that through the encouragement of scripture, I am not limited by my circumstances to share the good news! Forgive me for times I have shrunk back out of fear or insecurity. I don’t want to waste an opportunity to tell someone about how much You love them. Thank You for using me and allowing me to share the truth so that someone might be saved. Holy Spirit, would You lead me in conversations and season it perfectly to be received? I devote myself to You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
