Jonah 2:5-6
Kind of a gruesome picture here of Jonah, in the depths of the ocean, with seaweed wrapped around his head and the fish diving deep then coming up, then diving deep again, over and over. Terrible, terrible experience. (And I’m not sure how he didn’t get the bends, but okay). But he declared (after the fact, I might add) that God brought him up out of the pit. He didn’t know at the time of his prayer that God would rescue him from the fish; he didn’t know God would spare his life, and yet he kept his eyes focused on God.
