Week of Prayer Day 5 | Forgive Us As We Forgive
“And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors.”—Matthew 6:12
Summary: As Rebecca Shatswell teaches us about forgiveness today, she reminds us that Jesus always has a way of making complicated things simple. And He includes prayer in that simplicity, but the enemy wants to intimidate you so that you’ll discredit yourself and detach yourself from the very thing that God designed to be your life source: your prayer life, your communion with God.
Jesus encourages us to daily let the Holy Spirit do a quick assessment of our hearts. Is there something you need God to forgive you for? Is there something you need to forgive someone else for, as well? He challenges us to humble ourselves and admit it.
Question: WHAT do you need to confess and repent of? WHO do you need to forgive?
Prayer Starter: Father God, I need your forgiveness in my life today. I still have weaknesses where I need your covering and mercy. Lord, who do I need to forgive? … In Jesus’ Name, I choose to forgive [say who] for [say why], and I release them to You, Lord, because You are the righteous judge; I am not.
Your word also promises that if we confess our sins, You are faithful to forgive me and cleanse me of all unrighteousness, so Father, I confess __________________, and I receive your forgiveness and cleansing! In Jesus’ Name, Amen!”
